In Season Care Advice
At Australian Inflatable Decorations, we want your inflatables to look their best all season long. With a little regular care and maintenance, you can keep your festive display fresh, bright, and standing tall from the first setup to the final pack down. Here’s our simple guide to caring for your inflatable throughout the season.

1. Regularly Check for Wear and Tear
Throughout the season, it’s a good idea to give your inflatable a quick once-over every few days:
- Check seams, zippers, and tether points for any signs of stress or damage.
- Look for small holes or weak spots developing.
- Listen for unusual hissing sounds which could signal a slow leak.
Early detection means small repairs can be made before they turn into bigger problems.

2. Washing Your Inflatable
Your inflatable will naturally collect a bit of dust, pollen, and even the occasional splash of mud during the season. To keep it looking sharp:
- Gently wipe down the surface with a soft cloth or sponge.
- Use mild soapy water — avoid harsh cleaners or bleach as they can damage the material.
- Always rinse off any soap residue with a clean, damp cloth.
- Focus on high-contact areas like the base and front panels, where dirt collects most easily.

3. Dry Thoroughly
After cleaning, it’s essential to dry your inflatable properly. If water is left trapped in folds or seams, it can cause mildew and discolouration.
Allow your inflatable to fully inflate and air dry in the sunshine before deflating or turning off the fan. Pay special attention to any hidden folds or pockets.

4. Maintain Secure Tie-Downs
Australian weather can change quickly! Strong winds or heavy rain can loosen stakes and tethers. Regularly check that:
- All ropes are taut but not over-tightened.
- Stakes are firmly driven into the ground.
- Weights or sandbags remain secure, particularly after storms or windy days.
Adjust as needed to keep your inflatable safely anchored and standing proud.

5. Avoid Overrunning the Blower
While most inflatable decorations are designed for continuous operation, it’s a good practice to switch off the blower if bad weather is approaching or if you’ll be away from home for long periods.
This helps extend the life of the motor and protects your inflatable from unnecessary strain.

6. Keep Electrical Components Dry
If rain is expected, cover plugs and powerboards with waterproof protectors, and keep all electrical connections off the ground where possible. Protecting your electrics ensures safe and reliable operation throughout the festive season.
